When an unlikely duo discovers a pattern of illegal sterilizations in women’s prisons, they wage a near impossible battle against the Department of Corrections. Filmed over seven years with extraordinary access and intimate accounts from currently and formerly incarcerated people, BELLY OF THE BEAST exposes modern-day eugenics and reproductive injustice in California prisons.

On Sunday, November 1st at 5pm EST
there will be a talkback with director Erika Cohn and producers Angela Tucker and Nicole Docta in conversation with Cynthia Løpez, executive director of New York Women in Film and Television.

20% of the proceeds from this virtual cinema presentation will benefit Women & Justice Project (WJP), which advances the leadership and builds the power of women directly impacted by incarceration to transform the criminal legal system.
