Application for Fiscal Sponsorship

Maysles Documentary Center accepts submissions from all filmmakers, regardless of background or experience. We work with both US-based and international productions.

Documentaries are our priority, but we consider projects of all types — including narratives, experimental films, film festivals and series, installations, collectives, and preservation projects — provided they fall within the scope of our mission:

Maysles Documentary Center is a Harlem-based not-for-profit organization committed to community, education, and documentary film. We use filmmaking to amplify and expand under-represented artists and narratives, while empowering young filmmakers in creative self-expression, communicating ideas, and advocating needs.

We prefer projects that have an established business entity, such as an LLC or S-Corp. Even though it is not required, we encourage all potential applicants to set one up before applying. If you’re an international project, we advise you to consult with an accountant/lawyer with knowledge of business entity law for your country and municipality.

To make the application process easier, we use a modified version of the International Documentary Association’s Documentary Core Application. We recommend downloading and reviewing the application questions in advance, as our submission form will not save your fields.

Please note, submissions are typically processed within 4 weeks.
