A note on the current situation in Congo: As the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic flattens across the US, Europe, and Asia, much of Africa continues to brace itself. In Congo, the impact of a potential Covid-19 outbreak would be indescribable – in Congo 73% of people live below the poverty line and 50% lack access to clean water; there are only 5 ventilators for a population of nearly 100 million, and gloves, face masks, and other basic supplies were already scarce before this all started. Without aggressive actions, Congo and other African nations will face a catastrophe.

Information and awareness is the first line of defense, and our partners at Friends of the Congo are working with the Telema Youth Movement to launch a Covid-19 Awareness and Education Campaign.
